一首好的歌曲就是生活感受的反映，而不同的歌曲则能代表我们在不同的生命时期的心路历程。这首蝴蝶之吻(Butterfly Kisses)则是一首父亲为女儿写的歌，藉此献给默默地关爱着子女的父亲们，也希望为子女者能够体会到这份虽不常常挂在嘴上，却是十分厚重深沉的——父爱。
在介绍这首歌曲之前，我们必须先来解释一下什么是所谓的Butterfly Kiss。这可不是指蝴蝶飞过来亲吻哦，而是当大人和小孩以脸部亲昵地靠在一起时，其中一人的眼睫毛，随着眼睛的眨动，轻轻的刷拂在另外一人的脸颊上，或者是两个人额头面对面的凑在一起，双方的睫毛互相刷拂，那种感觉，就好像是轻柔的蝴蝶在“亲吻”着你。
这首歌是美国抒情乡村歌手鲍勃.卡莱欧(Bob Carlisle)在他的女儿十六岁生日前夕，特别为女儿谱写的。卡莱欧在女儿生日前夕，突然惊觉女儿已经成长，不要再过多久，就即将就要远走高飞，离家去开创自己的人生。许多甜蜜的回忆，还有自己过去曾经错过、以及将来不会再拥有的机会，都浮现在他脑海，因此他萌生了这首歌的灵感。原本他并没有想要发表，只想把歌曲保留作送给女儿的礼物，但是在好友们的鼓励之下，才决定推出录音。本歌将一个父亲对女儿的爱写得感人致极。《旧金山纪事》报曾报导，有边开车边听此歌的听众把车子停到路边，泣不成声……
